North Carolina WDO Proposal Compliance
Disclaimer: Smarter Launch makes every effort to keep the information in this article current and accurate. However, North Carolina regulations can change, and it is ultimately your responsibility as a licensed operator to verify compliance requirements with your state's governing authority — in North Carolina, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) Structural Pest Control and Pesticides Division — and to ensure your proposals meet all applicable rules and regulations. This article is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.
North Carolina requires specific elements on all WDO-related proposals and service agreements. Below is what's required and where to set each item up in Smarter Launch.
Notice Banner
All termite proposals must display one of the following notice banners on the first page of the proposal PDF, in bold.
Retreat Only:
THIS CONTRACT PROVIDES FOR RETREATMENT OF A STRUCTURE BUT DOES NOT PROVIDE FOR THE REPAIR OF DAMAGE CAUSED BY WOOD DESTROYING ORGANISMS.
Retreat & Repair:
THIS CONTRACT PROVIDES FOR RETREATMENT OF A STRUCTURE AND THE REPAIR OF DAMAGE CAUSED BY WOOD DESTROYING ORGANISMS WITHIN THE LIMITS STATED IN THIS CONTRACT.
How to add in Smarter Launch: Go to Proposals > Templates and open your termite proposal template. Find the Notice Banner section and enter the appropriate banner text. The Notice Banner is designed specifically for compliance language that must appear prominently on the first page of the proposal PDF with a bold box around the text. See Creating and Editing Proposal Templates for more details.
WDIR-100
North Carolina requires the Wood-Destroying Insect Information Report (WDIR-100) for any WDO inspection on a structure being sold. It is the only legally recognized form for this purpose under 02 NCAC 34 .0602, and issuing an incomplete or inaccurate report is grounds for disciplinary action by the Structural Pest Control Committee.
How to add in Smarter Launch: The WDIR-100 is available in Forms. Go to Proposals > Templates, open your WDO inspection template, and add the WDIR-100 from the Forms section. You can configure whether the form is completed by the team member or the customer, and whether results are shown on the proposal. If the form is mapped to a PDF, also attach it in the Attached Documents section set to either append or prepend. See Creating and Editing Proposal Templates and Mapping a Form to a PDF for more details.
NC Waiver of Minimum Requirements
The NC Waiver of Minimum Requirements is required on all termite-related services where liquid treatment is the primary method. This form is available in Forms in Smarter Launch.
How to add in Smarter Launch: Go to Proposals > Templates, open your termite proposal template, and add the NC Waiver from the Forms section. As with the WDIR-100, make sure it is also added in the Attached Documents section if it's mapped to a PDF so it is included in the proposal PDF sent to the customer. See Creating and Editing Proposal Templates and Mapping a Form to a PDF for more details.
