The Custom Email integration is available for customers that would like to enable sending from their company email address rather than having proposals sent from Smarter Launch. This enables you to further brand the experience to your company and help your customers feel that they are within your company's individual workflow and process. This will also ensure that anyone that directly replies to your sending email will be able to land in your company's inbox rather than sending over to Smarter Launch!
To ensure high deliverability rates to your customers, we are required to receive authorization to send emails on your behalf. This will require you to add DNS records to your domain name. This is done through your domain registrar. Common domain registrars are: Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Network Solutions, SquareSpace etc.
Choose an Email Address to Send From
The first step in configuring the Custom Email integration is to determine what email address you want to associate with your emails. We would recommend using either a generic office inbox that you monitor: "office@[YOUR DOMAIN]" or you can define an email that doesn't exist (no-reply@[YOUR DOMAIN]) and customer replies will be bounced back to them, which will let them know that they replied to an invalid email.
All proposal emails specify a "Reply-to" email address that include the team member's email address that is assigned to the proposal. Most email clients will respect that defined address when clicking "Reply", but not all of them do!
Add your DNS Records
Next, we'll generate your DNS records that need to be added to your domain in order to authorize Smarter Launch to send emails on your behalf. Once the records displayed in your Custom Email integration panel have been added to your domain, simply click on the "I've added the records" button. We will then begin checking every hour until they are either verified or 7 days have passed. Once 7 days have passed, you can still add the records, you'll just have to click "Check DNS Records" in order for us to verify them.
Important Note: most domain registrars do NOT need you to include your domain as part of the Host part of the domain record. For example: "XXXXXXXXX._domainkey.[YOUR DOMAIN]", should be entered as simply: "XXXXXXXXX._domainkey" removing the ".[YOUR DOMAIN]" portion at the end. This applies to all DNS record types. Domain Registrars will assume the final part as you are already adding it to your specific domain so there is no need to include it.
As you can see in the image below, the first column include the Host values and the domain name has been removed from the entry:
If you are unsure how to implement these DNS records to your domain, please consult with your website provider for further assistance.
That's it!
After your DNS records are verified, we will enable your specified email address for sending. You can confirm that it is working by sending out a proposal to yourself and checking the sender. If you run into any issues, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team.
