Melissa Integration

Updated over 5 months ago

The Melissa integration makes additional data available for mapping into fields pertaining to your customers’ addresses. For example, you can configure your account to automatically populate property square footage, lot size, and more into customer address fields.

An example implementation of this data starts with your Custom Settings :: Custom Fields configuration. If you were to want to store the square footage of buildings associated with a customer's address, you would simply create a new “Field Group” with the field assignment linked to the Customer Address section.

You can give the field any name you would like, but be sure to assign it as a “Number” field type in order to have the appropriate variable mapping options available to you. You'll then want to set the default value of this field to be populated from the Melissa data by selecting the “Melissa: Building Sq. Ft.” Field. Now, whenever you create a new customer or associate a new address with an existing customer record, the field will automatically be populated with data from Melissa (if available).

Due to the Melissa data only being as good as publicly available county or state records, you may find that the values are not always 100% accurate. This could be due to the homeowner remodeling and expanding or modifying their floor plan without pulling permits or the data may simply have been entered in wrong into the registry. Please be sure to confirm with the customer prior to including the figures within a proposal or document. If you update the value within the customer address fields, this data will be saved and not over-written from the Melissa data.

You can also choose to include this data in a proposal by choosing the custom field value as the default value for a Pricing Group input as part of a service plan.
