Slack Integration

What is the Slack Integration?

The Slack integration connects your Smarter Launch account to your Slack workspace, letting you automatically send messages to channels or team members when things happen — like when a proposal is accepted, a customer is created, or a service is scheduled.

Once connected, you can build automation actions in Smarter Launch that post rich, formatted messages directly into Slack — keeping your team informed without anyone having to manually check the software.

Before You Start

  • You must be a Workspace Admin or Owner in your Slack workspace to authorize the connection.

  • Only one Slack workspace can be connected per Smarter Launch company.

  • Your browser must allow popups from dashboard.smarterlaunch.com.

  • You must install the Smarter Launch app into your workspace

Connecting Your Slack Workspace

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack.

  2. Click Connect Slack. A Slack authorization window will open in a popup.

  3. In the popup, select the workspace you want to connect, then click Allow.

  4. The popup will close and your workspace name will appear in Smarter Launch with a green "Connected" badge.

Tip: If the popup doesn't appear, check that your browser isn't blocking popups and try again.

Syncing Channels and Team Members

After connecting, Smarter Launch automatically fetches your Slack channels and team members so you can select them when building automations. This list is refreshed in the background regularly, but you can also manually refresh it at any time:

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack.

  2. Click the Refresh button next to "Channels & Team Members".

If you've recently added a new Slack channel or invited a new team member and they're not showing up in the automation builder, a manual refresh will pick them up.

Using Slack in Automations

Once Slack is connected, you can add a Send Slack Message action to any automation. Here's how to set it up:

  1. Open or create an automation in Automations.

  2. Add an action and select Send Slack Message.

  3. Choose one or more recipients — you can send to a channel (e.g. #proposals) or directly to a team member.

  4. Build your message using the block editor. You can add text sections, headers, buttons with links, and more.

  5. Use variables like #{{proposal.title}} or #{{customer.full_name}} to personalize the message with live data.

  6. Use the Test button to send a real message to Slack before saving — just pick a sample record to use for the variable values.

Disconnecting Your Workspace

To disconnect Slack:

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack.

  2. Click Disconnect and confirm.

This revokes Smarter Launch's access to your workspace and disables the integration. Any automations that use Slack actions will stop sending messages until you reconnect. You can reconnect at any time by clicking Connect Slack again.

Common Questions

Question

Answer

Can I connect multiple Slack workspaces?

No — each Smarter Launch company can connect one workspace. If you need to switch workspaces, disconnect the current one first, then reconnect with the new workspace.

Do I need to be a Slack admin to connect?

Yes — you need permission to authorize apps in your Slack workspace. Contact your Slack Workspace Admin if you don't see the Allow button during setup.

I connected Slack but my channels aren't showing up in automations.

Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack and click Refresh to sync your latest channels and team members.

A channel or team member was removed and my automation is failing.

Refresh your recipients list, then edit the automation to select a valid channel or team member.

Can I send a message to a private Slack channel?

Yes — private channels will appear in the recipient list as long as the Smarter Launch bot has been added to that channel in Slack.
