The SMS Messaging integration is a paid add-on that allows you to send text messages to customers directly from Smarter Launch.
Once enabled, you can:
Send proposals by text
Use SMS as a delivery channel in proposal templates
Include SMS in automated workflows (coming soon)
All messages are sent from a shared phone number provisioned to your account.
SMS is designed for transactional messaging, such as:
Sending proposal review links
Confirming appointments
Following up on open quotes
Every message includes a compliant opt-out footer so recipients can unsubscribe by replying STOP.
Before You Enable
Before activating SMS, two compliance fields must be configured:
Terms of Service URL — Publicly accessible link to your terms
Privacy Policy URL — Publicly accessible link to your privacy policy
These are required for 10DLC compliance (US carrier business messaging regulations).
Set both in:
Settings → Company → Advanced Settings
The SMS integration cannot be enabled until both URLs are configured.
Enabling the Integration
Once compliance URLs are set:
Navigate to Settings → Integrations → SMS Messaging.
Enable the integration.
Upon activation:
A shared phone number is automatically assigned from the platform pool.
This is the number customers will see when receiving texts.
The assigned number is displayed in your integration settings.
Your account begins with a default monthly limit of 250 SMS messages.
Contact Customer Success if you need a higher limit, or request an increase directly in the integration settings.
Sending a Proposal by SMS
When sending a proposal, an SMS tab appears alongside the Email tab.
To send via SMS:
Open the proposal and click Send.
Select the SMS tab.
Add one or more recipient phone numbers in standard US format:
(XXX) XXX-XXXXSelect existing customer contacts or manually enter numbers.
Write your message or use the pre-filled template.
Click Send.
The message includes a link to review the proposal. You may send to multiple recipients in one step. All recipients via SMS will have the ability to accept and sign the proposal.
If your account has reached its SMS limit:
The SMS tab is disabled
A notification prompts you to upgrade
SMS Message Templates
You can define a default SMS message at the proposal template level. Navigate to your Proposal Template settings and locate the SMS message field.
The default template is:
{{customer.primary_contact.first_name}}, view your proposal from {{company.name}} here: {{review_url}}This format is personal, concise, and includes the proposal link.
Available Merge Variables
{{customer.primary_contact.first_name}} — Customer’s first name
{{customer.primary_contact.last_name}} — Customer’s last name
{{customer.account_name}} — Customer’s account/company name
{{company.name}} — Your company name
{{company.email}} — Your company email
{{company.phone}} — Your company phone number
{{review_url}} — Shortened link to the proposal
{{current_date}} — Today’s date
The {{review_url}} is automatically shortened and trackable.
Message Length Limits
Standard SMS segment: 160 characters
Editor limit: 300 characters
A compliance footer is appended automatically (approximately 55 characters), so effective usable content length is around 245 characters before some carriers split into multiple segments.
Compliance Footer
Every message automatically includes: “To unsubscribe, reply STOP. Powered by Smarter Launch.”
This footer:
Is required by US carrier regulations
Cannot be removed or modified
Is not counted toward the visible editor limit
Is included in the delivered message
Recipients who reply STOP are automatically opted out in compliance with TCPA requirements.
SMS in Proposal Templates & Customer Generated Proposals
Proposal Templates
You can enable SMS as a default send method so proposals are delivered by:
Email
Email + SMS
Customer Generated Proposals (CGP)
If SMS is enabled on a CGP template:
Customers automatically receive a text message with their proposal link
SMS content is configured within the template
Monitoring Usage
View SMS usage in:
Settings → Integrations → SMS Messaging
The integration panel shows:
Current usage (rolling 30-day period)
Monthly limit
Percentage used (progress bar)
Usage status indicators:
Normal — under 90%
Warning — 90% or above
Exceeded — 100% (sending blocked)
Usage is calculated on a rolling 30-day basis, not a strict calendar month reset.
If nearing your limit, click Upgrade in the integration settings to request an increase.
SMS Logs
All sent messages are recorded in the Logs section of the SMS integration.
Each log entry includes:
Date and time sent
Recipient phone number
Customer name
Associated proposal
Message content
Message ID
Using SMS in Automations (Coming Soon)
SMS can be used as an action in Automations.
Examples:
Follow-up text if a proposal has been open for 24 hours
Confirmation text when a proposal is accepted
Automation SMS messages support the same merge variables as manual messages.
Frequently Asked Questions
What phone number do customers see?
Messages are sent from a shared phone number assigned to your account. The number appears in your integration settings.
Can customers reply to SMS messages?

The SMS integration cannot be enabled until both URLs are configured in Company Settings.
Are messages limited to US numbers?

What happens if I hit my limit?
Sending is blocked until your usage falls below the limit or you upgrade. A warning appears at 90% usage.
Can I customize the compliance footer?
No. The footer is required by carrier regulations and cannot be modified.
